The manager was really good, and I’d recommend the place if you want somewhere clean and relaxed to work on your laptop. It’s spacious, with strong WiFi, good beds and a decent kitchen, though there’s barely anywhere to put your phone. When I was there it felt pretty antisocial, since everyone seemed to be on their laptops working remotely. Maybe I just caught it at a bad time. My one concern was the shower ceiling in one bathroom, which had a lot of what looked like black mold. I think it may have just been painted over.

The beds in room 1 are so comfy, and the place is really clean with great people around. Amjad, the manager, is a star. Thank you!

I never actually stayed at Grays Hostel, but I’m extremely disappointed with how my booking was handled. I canceled a two-week reservation 12 days ahead and was still charged the full amount. I understand the booking was non-refundable, but keeping everything feels unfair and unusually rigid. Other places might offer at least a partial refund or charge a cancellation fee, especially when there’s plenty of advance notice and it’s high season, when a room seems likely to be booked again quickly. This feels like a question of fairness and care for customers. I paid in full for something I never used, and there was no flexibility or goodwill. I’d urge future travelers to read the terms carefully before booking. I can’t recommend Grays Hostel based on this, and I won’t book there again.

Amjad made a great stay even better. He was respectful and responsible, and made sure guests had what they needed. The place was clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.
