HOMESTAR, Jumeirah Beach Hostel - JBR - Pool, Beach, Metro

Heavy rain and floods caused major disruption during my Dubai trip, and my flight was cancelled because of the bad weather. Since it wasn’t possible to reach the hostel safely, I asked to cancel my booking, but the hostel refused. Their lack of flexibility or understanding in such a difficult situation was disheartening. If customer service and flexibility matter to you, I’d think twice before booking with this hostel. Homestar Hostel fell short when it mattered.

I lost my appetite for everything after this happened. I’d arrived very happy, the place had a good vibe, and I had plans to visit many places, but then all I could think about was going home. My money, 1500 USD, and my waterproof jacket were stolen. The cash was in my wallet, usually inside my cross bag. I normally put my laptop and cross bag in the locker at night. That morning I took the bag out before going out, left it on my bed, and went to shower. It was the only time I think it could have been taken. I’d left the bag unattended for just 10 or 15 minutes. Whoever took the money knew 100% that I had dollars in my wallet, and only 1 or 2 people had seen them. The thief could have known my ins and outs. There are no cameras in the corridors, and definitely none in the rooms, so someone can come and go. You may never know what was taken, how, or when. Even if I suspect someone, my morals and beliefs stop me accusing them without tangible evidence, especially when I have little to none. The place is fine until something like this happens, but don’t expect help. Management won’t investigate. The police wouldn’t investigate or even question anyone. One officer literally told me, “forget about it and it's ur mistake you stay in such a place !!” Dubai Police the safest city in the world they say !! All the blame falls on you, as if I have to watch my things 24 hours a day or wear everything in my luggage. I’ve been to 11 countries and many hotels and hostels, and have never seen such a cold response to a theft from the property or police. Anyway, God knows best, and I will never forgive.

Homestar is the best hostel, right in Dubai marina/ JBR, opposite the tram station and a 5-minute walk from the beach. The staff are amazing. I highly recommend it if you’re after an unforgettable holiday 🤭😎

I paid $60 in Total for 4 days in october. Unbelieveble! There are good shops downstairs and a grandiose supermarket with hot food at a really good price. The hostel has good vibes and views, parking, and a swimming pool. The owner is a really good guy who helped me with everything, and you have all you need Here! It’s my second time here in 18 months, and for sure it’s the best hostal in Dubai Marina - JBR. I’ll come back whenever I can. Thanks guys!
