Manchester Plaza Hotel

The chambermaid was lovely and always smiling, and the hotel was okay for a short stay. The room was spacious and clean, and there are plenty of supermarkets nearby. Still, I won't be returning. It's a long way from the metro, though you can take a bus there. When I asked the receptionist which bus to catch, she couldn't tell me and said to take a taxi. The Wi-Fi was terrible too. I stayed from 22nd jan to 27th jan. My booking started on 22nd jan, but I arrived in the early hours and didn't want to wait until 2pm for the room, so I accepted paying extra for early access. At about £41 a night, I was told the extra night would cost £90, then the manager lowered it to £70. He said there was a big food exhibition in dubai and prices had shot up, but when I checked later, rates were still around £41 a night. Hmmm. The safety deposit box was broken, so they gave me keys to use it. The TV didn't work even after they changed the remote batteries, and an electrical plug front fell off on my last morning. I could live with those issues. I didn't eat at the hotel or use the pool.

My husband found this place and moved in on his own because it's fairly close to the shipyard, about a 20 to 30 minute walk. There are two local supermarkets around five minutes away on foot. Bujuman Mall takes about half an hour to walk to, with a CARREFOUR supermarket and some well-known eateries inside. You can get a cab, though sometimes it takes a while. The starting fare is 5AED. If you're planning a free and easy trip, the starting fare from the airport is 25AED, then the meter goes up based on your destination.

The breakfast was excellent, and the chefs did a wonderful job. The hotel was spotless, too. Staff were very helpful, and the location was great. I’d definitely come back with my family and have recommended it to all my friends.

My pearl and gold necklace disappeared while I was staying here. I told both reception and management, but they showed no real interest or support. No proper investigation was started, and they offered no compensation. It happened on New Year’s Day, and I was short on time, so I couldn’t file a police complaint. The whole thing was stressful and deeply disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel given how poorly they handled my safety concerns.
