The Residences 6

Our week in room 1803 was made very unpleasant by the receptionist, an Asian lady who was rude and abrupt. When we asked how to get to the pool and gym, she said our keycard wouldn’t work because we were long-term guests and access was only for short stays. The website said we were entitled to use them, and we found the facilities ourselves; our card worked. When the Wi-Fi dropped, she said she worked for another company, didn’t work here, and couldn’t enter rooms, although we’d seen her come out of another room. There were a lot of us and a baby, so we asked her to call a maxi taxi. She said she could, but it would take too long, and told us to walk out to the street to find one. I’ve never encountered someone so rude. She argued with guests and claimed she wasn’t the receptionist, and shouldn’t be working as one if she won’t help.

Peter from the concierge ran all the way to the street to help me catch a cab. Great service from a really excellent person. I’ll always recommend The Residences Tower 6 when I’m in Dubai.

I’ve lived on the 14th floor for almost a year and a half, and the noise has been constant: months of maintenance work, stomping, loud music, and people talking and laughing loudly in the corridor in the morning. When I report it, security seems helpless. They approach the apartment, come back saying they couldn’t hear the noise I meant, and then do nothing. If I complain about noise in the morning, they say it’s too early to approach the apartment at all. I’ve lived in several Dubai buildings and haven’t experienced neighbors this inconsiderate or a security team this ineffective. Very disappointed in this Emaar building.

Everything was okay at Elite Royal Residence Tower 6, The Opal, apart from the curtains. They’re hard to open and close, and they don’t block out the light, so I can’t sleep well in the morning. The curtains should be changed.
