The second room my mom was moved to had roaches all over it. The first was so strongly scented with chemicals that she couldn’t stay longer than two minutes. She had booked three nights through booking.com. When she asked to leave and get her money back, the hotel refused and said it would give her its best room. Zagy Hotel Dubai told us cockroaches should be expected, and there were no refunds. This was an unsanitary and rude experience, and the last place you’d want to end up at night in Dubai. Please don’t risk ruining your own or a loved one’s vacation by staying at Zagy hotel. The hotel or booking.com will refuse a refund, in my experience. Google wouldn’t let me upload the videos, so I could only share screenshots.

The Nigerian restaurant is in an old hotel in Deira, and the food was enjoyable. The bitter leaf soup was the tastiest and most authentic dish I tried. A meal with protein is around AED 35-80, cheaper than calabar aroma, and water is free. Food is ready to take away from a heated server. They don’t accept cards, so bring cash. I once had to walk 20 minutes to an ATM at the Metro with a staff member after eating so I could pay. The customer service was lovely, though. The young man who served me was always smiling, and the owner is down to earth and engages with customers. I left my Bulgari glasses there once, went to Dubai mall, and only remembered close to midnight. When I returned, they’d kept them safe. They have integrity, and I recommend giving this Naija restaurant a try if you’re around Baniyas or Deira.

I used to visit when it was Blue Star Hotel, about twice a month, and the management then gave great customer service. Since the ownership changed, I stayed at Zagy Hotel only twice, because of the late night activity there. At night, you see many business ladies going from floor to floor looking for customers to earn money. The hotel is very dirty, and I don’t recommend it.
