Northshore Seaside Suites

The restaurant was good and the beach view was pleasant, but sleeping here meant getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. If the doors and windows were properly sealed, this might be a halfway decent hotel.

The breakfast was absolutely terrible, with imported fruit instead of tropical options or local pineapple, soggy bacon, and a server who responded to our request for alternatives by throwing another menu on the table and saying, “you don’t know how to read?” Two rooms in our conference group of 18 never had hot water, not even warm water, and the problem was never fixed. Our bathroom also flooded from the toilet one night, reaching the hallway, though it was repaired during the day. The reclining chairs outside were all broken. We had 60 colleagues at the hotel next door, where the breakfast, service, and rooms were much better. Don’t stay here. There’s nothing good about it.

The beach was quiet during the week, with plenty of loungers, especially at the second beach by the adjacent property, just a 1-2 minute walk away. It became busier on Friday and Saturday. Our room was basic but cleaned daily, with fresh towels each time, and hearing the ocean while falling asleep was lovely. Mamma Mia had delicious food, a good selection, reasonable prices, and convenient breakfast, lunch, and dinner hours. Taxis were easy to arrange for trips to Dickensons Bay, about 15 minutes away, and Shirley Heights BBQ, about 50 minutes away. Walking options are limited, although we did reach Le Bistro one evening and Kaffeine one morning. Sotto Vento at the neighboring all inclusive property is available with a reservation, but it’s expensive for non guests. The fridge and stove top were useful, though the stove top worked poorly, there was no microwave in our unit, and hot water for showers was difficult to get. Some other guests said their units did have microwaves. The owners and staff were very friendly, and I’d recommend staying here.

Northshore was a perfect fit for my first Antigua trip, especially because I wanted an apartment with a great ocean view. The owner encouraged me to hire a car and tour the island, which turned out to be an excellent decision. My downstairs apartment was fantastic, with the water just a stone’s throw from the outdoor sitting area and beautiful sunsets to enjoy after each day out. The apartment was always clean when I returned, with fresh sheets and towels, and the bathroom, shower, dining area, fridge, freezer, and cooking facilities were all excellent. There was also a private beach, bar, and restaurant about a 2 minute walk away. The airport was under 10 minutes by car, which made leaving easy. I had a really good stay and wouldn’t hesitate to book here.
