Hotel Ajka

The hotel offers great views and the service was excellent. The woman handling breakfast didn’t speak English, but she understood our gestures and was very kind and helpful. Getting a balcony room for that price was great. Unfortunately, the room itself wasn’t very clean and the floor was a little dirty. That was the only real negative, as everything else was good.

A good choice in a quiet area, with a pleasant balcony and views directly over the river and mountains. The room was small but clean. The main part of the city and its entertainment are about a 10-minute walk away.

Avoid this place. Apart from the old staircase and the restaurant upstairs, the property was a mess, with a strong urine smell throughout and poor maintenance. We reported at check-in that the bathroom door in room 305 was damaged, but nothing was done. That night it locked us inside for nearly two hours while our toddlers remained trapped in the room, terrified and crying. Another guest noticed and alerted staff, which is how help finally arrived. Instead of apologising, staff blamed us for the damage and accused us of being drunk. Breakfast was also unacceptable, with cold food and no water or basic essentials in the room.

The view from our double room with balcony was nice, and the room was clean. The lighting wasn't good, though. Staff were polite and breakfast was fine. The location is great, but parking is limited and not guaranteed since it's small and public. I expected more after reading the reviews.
