Horizont Hotel

I was frustrated by how often the cleaners entered while we were still in the room. They knocked but opened the door without waiting for an answer. On checkout day, one kept opening the door and waiting for us to leave before checkout time. The privacy was poor. The rooms also didn't feel clean, and I suspect the sheets hadn't been changed between guests, which is awful. The hotel was advertised as near the beach and center, and I booked mainly for the pool, which we never used. It's not especially cheap, and there are better, less expensive options. Breakfast wasn't great. Parking was mostly full, though staff might help find a spot. The street nearby was dirty, and the beach was just around the corner.

Some of my jewelry disappeared from the room, and the staff's response to it was completely unsatisfactory. I also found the rooms neglected and the standard very low. The staff didn't come across as professional or helpful. I left disappointed and can't recommend the hotel because of the poor service and how unsafe it felt.

The piano music at breakfast was one nice touch, and you can get to the beach quickly. But the pool looks out onto surrounding blocks. Worse, loud music played from lunchtime until late at night. This seemed to be the only place nearby playing it so loudly. A terrible stay.

The lift was the worst part, with waits of at least ten minutes, and the internet didn't work in my room. The food was so bad I didn't eat any of the meals I'd paid for, and the cheese and other items looked as if they were past their date. Some of my friends initially had no room or bed. Staff eventually found a couple of beds, but ants were crawling out of them, and my friends got pimples on their skin. Service was awful. None of the rooms had towels or shampoo, and when we asked, staff said they were too busy and would bring towels later. They never did. I don't know how this place got four stars. I've stayed at lots of hotels in Albania, and this was by far the worst. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
