Royal G Club Hotel

We waited 20 minutes for the waiter and another 40 minutes for the order. When I asked for coffee and a long espresso, he said there were too many orders to prepare the long espresso. We never received a bill either. He said he had one total for several tables and simply told us what our coffee cost. The prices are far too high for such poor service, including 180 lek, or 1.6 euro, for water. They didn’t even provide an astray.

The travel documents called this a local five-star hotel, but the stay fell well short of that. Our room was unheated when we arrived, despite the outdoor temperature being 3 degrees Celsius, and we initially received only one room key, so the heating couldn’t run while we were out. On the first night, the room reached just 14 degrees Celsius. The bathroom was only partly usable because the door had to stay closed due to a sewage smell. The buffet seating area was also cold, so we ate breakfast and dinner in outdoor clothes. Most of the food was cold as well. New Year's Eve was different because the tables were in the heated bar area. Finally, on January 3rd, our last evening, we had a hot meal in a normally warm room. We did raise the issue at reception, but changing the air conditioning to heating during meals only blew cold air into the area. Temperature changes take time, of course, and in our case that meant four days. Some attempts to improve things were met rudely, including: "I don't talk to you. It's always the same problem every day. We have 26 degrees here."

The rooms are small, but they’re cozy and comfortable, and the price matches the quality. There was plenty of food, with enough variety to find something suitable, including fruit, seafood, and meat dishes. The staff worked clearly and efficiently. I had expected to be disappointed after reading earlier reviews, but that was far from what happened.

We were happy with this choice. It’s a small hotel right on the seashore, with good food and pleasant staff who don’t get in your way. There were enough chairs both on the beach and around the pool. Our room could have been larger, and unfortunately it faced the courtyard, but because we stayed only a short time, we overlooked those inconveniences. We can only speak highly of the staff.
