Hotel Sunset

The biggest problem was the lack of staff. When we arrived, the man acting as receptionist was also the restaurant bartender and waiter, so he was rushing around. He was kind and spoke English well, but couldn’t answer our questions about the area and had to run off while showing us the room. The first bathroom hadn’t been cleaned at all. It smelled horrible and still had feces in the toilet. After we asked for cleaning and discussed it with the cleaner, we were moved to another room. There, the shower leaked every time, flooding the bathroom and spilling into the room. The sink and toilet were unstable too. The hostel is also very uphill, with a dangerous walk because cars drive fast and there’s no pavement. There were some positives: the pool was nice, the outdoor space was good, the AC worked properly, and every room had a balcony for hanging wet clothes. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet for sleeping. With enough staff to welcome guests, clean rooms, and answer questions, this place could be wonderful. Unfortunately, that wasn’t our experience. Maybe in the future.

The room and pool were both good, so I wouldn’t put much weight on the other reviews. The only real drawback is the location. Getting to the beach means walking up and down a very steep route, so be prepared for that.

The friendly, welcoming staff took care of everything we needed. They were especially kind when my girlfriend felt sick from the sun on checkout day. The team let us leave a little later so she could recover, which we really appreciated. Great place and great service.
