Paradise Lukova Hotel

The view was the only good part of this stay. The bathroom was very old, there was no warm water, and the TV didn’t work. Service was awful, with meals arriving one at a time, leaving the last person waiting for more than two hours. Empty plates stayed on the table, and we were even asked to pay for six Aperol Spritz we hadn’t had. Breakfast was disgusting, especially the juices. Coffee was the only thing worth ordering, and even then we had to go ask for it because nobody came to us.

This was the worst experience. Breakfast was identical every day, and our room went 7 days without being cleaned. Much of the staff seemed clearly inexperienced. The toilet and shower didn’t work properly, and the hot water ran out after one shower. Some rooms weren’t ready when we arrived, and even afterward several lacked basics such as toilet paper, enough towels for the number of guests, and a trash can, including in the bathroom.

The location and views were stunning, and the rooms were beautifully decorated, very clean, and came with balconies. There was also a huge terrace and a fabulous swimming pool. The staff were perfect, with special thanks to Albion for his smiling, good-natured help. Absolutely wonderful.

We planned to stay for two nights but were glad to leave after just one. The beach is far away, and without a car it would mean a 45 minute downhill walk followed by a 2 hour uphill walk. The Wi-Fi was effectively useless because nobody else could use it while staff were online at reception. Food and drinks were very expensive compared with other places in Albania, and the food quality was poor. Breakfast was basic, with bread, feta cheese, marmalade, boiled eggs, and juice, while coffee cost extra. There was no elevator, so we carried our bags to the 4th floor. The owner was the worst part. When we tried to check out after one night because the facility guaranteed wasn't offered, he refused and shouted in the lobby that we had to pay for two nights. He told us, "You're the problem, not I". After 10 minutes of arguing, he finally returned the passport and let us leave. Calling this a palace or VIP-hotel is a joke, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
