I've visited friends in Pogradec four times, and each time I stayed at Hotel Enkelana. Its position between the lake and the town is perfect. My room was quiet and comfortable, with a good bed and a pleasant view of Lake Ohrid, the park, and the town. Everyone on the staff was kind and helpful. Breakfast was very good, as were the coffee and cake or trilece later in the day. Sitting in the hotel gardens or at the hotel's island Café was especially enjoyable.

Hotel Enkelana has a real sense of character, partly because of its history, which is reflected in the building. The staff are friendly storytellers, so it's worth asking them about the hotel's past. Rooms are kept impeccably clean and suit different preferences, while breakfast is a pleasant start to the day. Being directly on the lakefront, Hotel Enkelana gives you beautiful views and a peaceful setting for both mornings and nights.

The location is excellent, but the stay was let down by a basic problem. We were there for two days and couldn't shower because there was no hot water. We reported it at reception, but the only response was the unhelpful statement, "it is not possible".

The room was clean and very nice, but the receptionist was not communicative and didn't help with our questions. His manner made it sound as if he were giving us the room for free. Considering the expensive price, I wouldn't recommend it.

The location is great, and the hotel is very cheap. The indoor pool actually feels cooler than the lake. Unfortunately, the WiFi doesn't work inside the room.
