Our room was spacious, with a lovely balcony full of sunshine, and the shared area felt comfortable and welcoming. The hosts were genuinely friendly and helpful. One window had no blind, though, so the room became bright much earlier than we wanted. Even with that, I'd definitely recommend the place.

The staff were cheerful and always ready to help, even waiting for us when we arrived at 4 am. For nearby hikes, the hostel can arrange transport and prepare a takeaway breakfast. The rooms are large, the breakfast is reasonable, and the beer is cheap. The WC was the weak point.

What makes this place special is the community. The outgoing owner and staff keep the real hostel spirit alive, with get-togethers over homemade raki that bring travellers together. There are comfortable beds, a pool table in the common room, a nice bar, and a good free breakfast. The location is also excellent, only a minute from Shkoder's main drag. I left wanting to come back and stay much longer.

I felt very welcome here, from the low-priced rooms and bar to the genuinely friendly staff who helped with every question. A particularly memorable touch was the friendly italian nonna, who says "bonna notte" before you go to bed. This is a really, really great hostel.

The hostel is in a superb location, and a private room is excellent value. David the owner and his staff are fantastic, while the drinks are reasonably priced for an evening beer or two. It also seems to be very popular during high season.
