The room and bathroom were spotless, and the linens smelled lovely. We also appreciated being able to leave our luggage at reception after checkout. The walls don’t reach the ceiling, so you’ll want to be a heavy sleeper. They say reception is open 24 hours, but the building is locked overnight. You have to text the owner to get back in, which was a pain when we had plans at night. Edit: I changed my rating from 3 stars to 1 after the owner privately messaged me with a made-up claim that I’d farted in the hallway. A very odd thing to do. I always flushed the bathroom after using it. I think there may have been a problem with the button, so perhaps he mistook me for someone else.

I wish I’d booked a longer stay. GM Tirana Hostel had a really good feel, and the hosts made me feel at home as soon as I arrived. It was probably one of the cleanest hostels I’ve stayed in, and even with the place full I never had to wait for a bathroom because there are plenty. You can tell they care about both the space and the people staying there. I’ve stayed in lots of hostels while traveling, and this one definitely stuck with me. I’d come back next time I’m in Tirana.

Loved the neighborhood. This new hostel is quiet and super clean, with a big private room and very comfortable beds at an economical price. I was traveling solo as a mature woman and had no drama, no party. Highly recommend it. Don’t hesitate, you’ll come back.

We liked our first visit enough to return within the same week. The owner was very kind and helpful, always around for questions, and spoke German, which made things easy. He also arranged a very affordable taxi to the main bus station and airport. The hostel is well placed for exploring, about a 10-15 minute walk from the main sights. Our room was spacious for a budget hostel, and both the room and bathrooms were spotless. A comfortable, affordable option.

These aren’t proper rooms, just spaces divided off in a hall, so there’s no privacy and light and noise carry through. The owner was rude and aggressive. There was even someone sleeping on a bed in the reception area.
