Vila Ada Hotel

Breakfast was good, and the hotel felt like very good value for the money. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were really friendly. It's on a quiet street, about a 15 minute walk from the city center. There's a parking garage nearby where you can leave your car for around €10 a day.

Our stay on the 19th and 20th of April was really enjoyable. The rooms were great and quiet, with super comfortable pillows. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. An older gentleman offered us a small Albanian drink on the house while we were ordering coffee, and told us about its history. They also kindly held our suitcase while we went exploring because our flight was still six hours away. I think the woman who owns the hotel is a fantastic piano player. Thank you!

The rooms were clean, and the location worked nicely, on a quiet street but right by all the action. The staff were incredible and went out of their way to make us comfortable.

For the price, this was an okay hotel. The room was decent for what we paid. One bathroom bulb was out and the ceiling light kept flickering, but the AC and fridge both worked as they should. The employees speak enough English to make themselves understood, though don't expect a deep conversation. You can pay by card or cash in lek or euros. Breakfast was also just okay for the overall price. It was one coffee, with extra coffee costing more, a croissant, and white bread with about four or five toppings like egg and cheese. There was no meat. I was uneasy about having to leave the room key on the reception desk when going out. The keys were simply sitting on the counter, so it seemed like a guest or even someone who wasn't staying there could take one without the receptionist noticing. Since there's no safe in the room, we didn't feel comfortable leaving our passports there while exploring the city. One thing that caught us off guard: you're not allowed to flush toilet paper. It has to go in the bin beside the toilet. Apparently that's fairly standard in Albania because of the poor sewage network, but we hadn't researched it.
