The quiet surroundings were a real pleasure, and our twin room met our expectations. Sevak and his family paid attention to what we needed. For a fee, we had a hearty, balanced breakfast, and Sevak drove us to popular sites in Armenia. Our highlight was Pandok restaurant up the hill, where the fresh, meaty dishes hit a craving we hadn’t even realized we had.

The owner cooks local food using produce from her own garden, and you should book dinner there rather than look for restaurants nearby. I’m not vegetarian, and I still really enjoyed the food. It’s a great base if you’re heading to the lake or mountains, with the hiking trails starting a dozen or so kilometers away. The only downside is that the owner has no daughter, otherwise I’d stay there forever. Enjoy your stay!

The host is lovely, breakfast was enjoyable, and there’s a nice view of Ararat with a balcony to relax on. The rooms are very comfortable, though the bathroom is shared and huge. Its ceiling is only 1.90 m high, so tall people have to crouch a bit in the shower. Water pressure is medium, but hot water is always available. The nearby observatory is worth mentioning too, where you can watch the sky in the early evening.
