Guest House Dilijan Orran

We came at the end of September, and the owner was very friendly and spoke English really well. The place may suit a summer visit better. In the room, the single radiator took a while to warm things up, especially after being switched off while we were out. Dilijan is humid, so the room felt cold and damp, and the bedding seemed old, though it was clean. The bathroom was clean too, but there was a constant toilet smell. A tiny heater helped a little before a shower, but wasn’t very effective. I lost the hot water halfway through my first shower; after fiddling with it, it came back and I could finish. The Booking.com listing gave me the wrong impression about a couple of things. It mentioned a kitchen, but all that was there was a sink, fridge and one hob for boiling water for tea or coffee. It also listed a washing machine, which sounded like guests could use one onsite. Instead, they offer laundry for 1500 AMD. We used that service and had clean clothes back in our room by the end of the day. We had a car, but without transport, the location isn’t convenient for the centre unless you take a taxi. Yandex taxis are very cheap. You can walk to a nearby supermarket, but on our first evening two persistent street dogs followed us, and I didn’t feel comfortable making that walk again.

The host was so welcoming and helpful, and speaks fluent English. It’s a peaceful guest house with a lovely view of the Dilijan mountains.

We found the guesthouse from the little billboards along the main road in the mountain village of Dilijan. The host speaks English perfectly and was lovely. We had both dinner and breakfast, and enjoyed the food. Wifi worked in almost every area, and you can get beer, wine and water there. The bathroom is basic, but the shower works well.

There are shops nearby, and the valley views are beautiful. It’s a quiet spot just outside town, around a 30-40 minute walk from Dilijan centre. The guesthouse is very cosy, with wood throughout and a traditional feel.
