Hotel Haghartsin Complex

The scenery around this cosy place is beautiful, the food is not bad, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It’s nice to stay with kids, and the rooms are clean, but they aren’t very comfortable. The cottages seem okay. I’d avoid the single rooms without balconies, though. They’re dark and dull, and you can’t open the curtains because people walking past the window can see inside. The view is just the opposite wall of the building and its windows, with no chance to enjoy the sunlight or the beauty of the place.

We booked a twin room, but were given one with a double bed. The room was so cold all night. They hadn’t turned on the heating and gave us a small heater that did nothing. Everything was so dirty that I got the impression it hadn’t been cleaned before we arrived. There was pee in the bathroom. The room looked awful too, with an old red carpet, blue chairs, dirty walls, old red lights and brown curtains. It cost 30.000 dram, the sort of price charged by the best hotels in Dilijan, not this place. Breakfast was very basic.

The food was disgusting, clearly past its due date, inedible and unsafe. There was no hot water for hours, even in winter, and the rooms were freezing, so it was impossible to rest properly. The service was awful from beginning to end. Staff were unhelpful and seemed not to care about guests at all. This hotel ruined the New Year holiday for 250 people. What should have been a celebration became a nightmare because of their incompetence and lack of basic hospitality. By far the worst hotel experience I’ve had. I’d warn anyone to stay far away and avoid it at all costs.

The beds were horrible. You could hear every movement, and the springs poked through the mattress. The food wasn’t great either, half cold and expensive for this region. We had biting ants in our rooms, and the staff don’t speak two words of English. s
