The setting is a problem: there’s a huge construction site right across the street, and otherwise there’s little nearby beyond the hotel. That project has displaced many people from Chicala, and it seems to be pushing to remove the area altogether and make it upscale, in a city where half the population is hungry. I was also surprised that the bar only serves hotel guests. The website doesn’t mention this, and there’s no sign telling you when you arrive.

Breakfast was great, and the service was excellent. The hotel’s in a good location, too. There’s a bit of noise from construction across the road, but I still slept well, so it wasn’t a problem for me.

The staff were very helpful at both reception and the restaurant, and it’s a very good hotel. I hope they add more vegetarian dishes to the restaurant menu.

The restaurant food was disgusting. My airport pickup had also been booked, and I followed up, but nobody came, which was annoying. I didn’t find the location ideal as a woman travelling alone. The room was spacious and fairly practical, and housekeeping was very efficient. Reception and restaurant staff were impeccable, friendly and helpful. The pool was nice enough, though I didn’t like the loud comings and goings on the bar side.
