Hotel Kilimanjaro

I chose this hotel mainly because it was close to where I was working. By Luanda standards, the prices are very reasonable, and the staff are friendly and helpful, which is why I’m giving it two stars. Still, I can’t give it a very positive review. I stayed for three nights and had no running hot water. The fridge in my room didn’t work, the bedsheet was too small, and the light above the bed kept burning out. The Wi-Fi was inconsistent, and breakfast was OK but nothing special. Paying in cash was inconvenient, since Visa isn’t accepted.

The staff really made our brief time in Luanda feel special, going out of their way to make it pleasant and memorable. The hotel is near the university, with easy access to the city center and farther afield.

This is tricky to rate since it seems to be used mostly as a stopover guesthouse, and not every service is available. The internet speed is fair, and the staff are willing to help. There’s a bar next door and a supermarket a block away.

The receptionist from Tanzania seemed to have no customer service experience. While attending to guests, the staff spoke very loudly and ate and drank at reception.
