Cacique Inacayal Lake & Spa Hotel

It’s a comfortable hotel in a great setting, with a perfect location and good breakfast. The stay was great apart from the restaurant. We’d booked for the New Year’s Eve event and confirmed by email, but they acted as if they hadn’t received it. Then they offered us a table for double the price hotel guests were supposed to pay, and the place settings were dirty when we sat down. We cancelled right away. I know mistakes can happen, but the way they handled it was very unprofessional.

The location is great, and breakfast was really good, especially the fresh fruit. The staff, though, were very unfriendly and didn’t make any effort to welcome guests.

The views and location are great, but the rooms are very dirty, damp, and musty. The hotel feels like it’s falling apart and needs major repairs.

Breakfast was the highlight: it was included, changed every day, and had a huge range of hot and cold, sweet and savory options. They even had disposable mate sets. We loved it, and the waiters were attentive and professional. The front desk and room cleaning staff were attentive too. One waiter from Argentina who had worked in the Canary Islands was especially helpful, friendly, and fun to chat with. The hotel is in a good spot, about a 10-minute walk from the Civic Center. There’s a safe in the room, and the doors use electronic keys. The lake and mountain views from the outdoor terraces and common areas are unbeatable. There’s a heated indoor pool with a spa area, reading spots by the fireplace, a piano, pool table, and a computer work area. Our superior double matrimonial room was enormous, if a little dated. It had a king-size bed with a firm mattress and a choice of two pillows, one firm and one soft, plus a large flat-screen TV and mini-fridge. The Wi-Fi was only so-so. An unnecessary divan made it hard to get to the bathroom. Half the heaters didn’t work, though the room wasn’t cold, and there were damp stains on the walls behind the curtains. The bathroom wasn’t clean. A long hair by the sink was there when we arrived and stayed for all five days. It had two sinks and a whirlpool tub, but turning on the whirlpool released a rotten smell, so we didn’t use it. The hotel did provide shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body cream, and bath salts. Don’t miss the breakfast. The bathroom cleanliness, smell from the whirlpool, damp stains, and patchy Wi-Fi all need attention.
