Fortaleza Hostel

I was looking to skip the typical city hostel, and this place was just right. The host was great, the atmosphere warm, breakfast tasty, and the price good.

The location is lovely, with a very quiet beach only a five-minute walk away. Flor, the owner, was incredibly kind and attentive, and the homemade breakfast was spectacular. Everything was excellent, too: the facilities were comfortable and very clean, and guests have a really spacious kitchen. I’ll definitely come back.

Flor and the volunteers made the stay feel like home. They’re super friendly and helpful with anything from hostel questions to Bariloche tips, like bus times and things to do. They also keep the rules, especially quiet hours, so everyone can rest. That people-first atmosphere was my favorite part, and I was extremely happy with my week at Fortaleza. I’ll choose it again when I return to Bariloche. The location is peaceful, in the south and away from downtown, but still handy for places like Cerro Campanario and Colonia Suiza. The bus stop is 100 meters from the hostel, and there’s a convenience store with good prices two blocks away where you can top up your SUBE card. The facilities were great as well. There’s hot water around the clock and excellent heating. The common rooms are spacious and nice, with board games, a TV, and a library. The kitchen has everything needed to cook, the bathrooms are kept spotless all day, and the beds are very comfortable. Breakfast was superb, with homemade bread, cereal, fruit, pancakes, and everything delicious.

Being close to the trails and surrounded by trees made this a great spot. It’s just a block from the bus stop on Bustillos Street. My friend and I arrived in the rain, pulling our suitcases, and the women there welcomed us warmly and helped us get settled. The stay was more than satisfactory. Quiet hours after midnight were respected, which mattered since most guests were tired from hikes, excursions, or other activities. It was well worth the trip, and I’ll be back soon.
