Hotel Plaza Bariloche

You get one of the nicest views of Nahuel Huapi for a good price. The customer service was good too, with a complete buffet breakfast and complimentary coffee and tea in the afternoon.

The view was nice and the hotel staff were good, but management seemed focused on making money, even if that meant tricking people who booked from far away. This place is in no condition to be operating. The elevator feels like it could cause a death any day. I wouldn’t recommend it at all, and hope someone does something about it. It was a very old hotel, and the elevator was scary, literally falling apart. It was the worst property I’ve ever stayed in. The whole experience almost became a joke, with even the staff laughing along because there was nothing else to do but find humor in the mess. Five minutes after I made the reservation, they texted that they’d move me to another hotel because there was a problem with my room. The other hotel cost less, but they didn’t offer to pay me the difference. Then they reversed course and said they’d fixed the problem. When I arrived, they said I had to pay $40 USD more for a view, even though we’d already booked one. They gave me a key to an occupied room, so I walked in on a couple, then gave me a room without a view. I had to spend the night there despite having just been charged $40 for a view. The next morning I got a room with a view, but the handle fell off as I was closing the door, so I couldn’t close the room, though I could open it. The faucet came off when I washed my hands, and an outlet came off when I turned on the lights. The elevator got stuck and clearly needs maintenance. Every time it stopped, it felt as if it might break and free fall. I’d booked six nights total and politely asked booking to help get some kind of discount, rebate, or maybe a free night. I got nothing. They said the owner has seven hotels. I’d suggest he close one or two to improve quality.

The staff were very friendly, and breakfast was great. The bed was really comfortable and it was quiet during our stay. The room itself wasn’t very big or functional, with no plug on one side of the bed, but it worked for a single night. Wi-Fi was unstable. It seemed fine for reading the daily news, but when I VPNed into my job’s network, it dropped about every two minutes. I wouldn’t recommend streaming or uploading from there.

The service was great, and the hotel is centrally located with a great view of the snowy mountain ranges 🌨️🏔️. It’s super family-friendly, whether you’re with friends, a partner, or children.
