Phoenix Hostel

Really good hostel, and the staff were so nice and helpful!

Just what we needed for the price we paid. The rooms are simple but clean and tidy, each with its own bathroom, and it’s only a few blocks from the city center. It’s a warm, comfortable guesthouse and a great value. We got a good off-season Groupon deal, and breakfast was included: coffee and tea/beer and two croissants. One issue, though: they weren’t very organized or responsible about room reservations. We’d read about this happening, and the same thing happened to us.

We had a voucher we’d bought online for our weeklong stay. The rooms are small and very basic, but the central location in the heart of Bariloche and the affordable price made them more than adequate. They offer room service and breakfast. There was a problem when we arrived: they said they couldn’t give us the room we’d reserved because the other guests had decided to stay a few more days. I complained, of course, and they gave us a similar room in the end. Apart from that minor issue, everything was great, and I recommend it.

The mattresses were very worn, the place wasn’t very clean, and some broken things were left unrepaired, including a toilet leaking from underneath. Still, it’s good value for money, with a very cheap rate, an excellent city location, and a hot shower in every room. I wouldn’t call the service great. The staff didn’t offer activity suggestions or discouraged excursions. Don’t listen to them, haha.
