Esplendor by Wyndham Buenos Aires

What happened with the staff was the worst part: they were rude and didn’t help us, so I ended up sleeping on the floor for the night. Esplendour is described as a four-star hotel with a 4.1 Google rating, but I don’t see how it fits that category. It feels like a budget place, and it was a huge letdown at the end of our tour. The building is run-down and under renovation. Our room was large, but the centrally controlled AC barely cooled or ventilated it, and the windows couldn’t be opened for fresh air. The taps were faulty and stuck. The toilet-side bidet spray shot up to the ceiling and got me wet instead of doing its job. There was no drinking water, kettle, or tea or coffee in the room. I found just one dining area, serving a skimpy breakfast. The neighboring rooms weren’t in use, and their dirty balconies were visible from my room. After all that, this place doesn’t deserve even one star.

The lobby and floor interiors look very nice, and the staff were friendly and eager to help. The central location also worked well, with many sights within walking distance. The rooms, though, need refurbishing. The toilets are poor and oddly designed. The flush button kept sticking, even after it was repaired, and every room seems to have the same kind. Our AC also wasn’t working during the stay. Breakfast was limited and underwhelming.

There was some street noise, but the staff really stood out for being so friendly and helpful while we were in Argentina. We stayed here twice, first in a third-floor room, then on the first floor. The first-floor room had higher ceilings, though it was colder.

A comfortable place to stay when you're on a budget. The rooms were really comfortable.
