Exe Hotel Colón

This old hotel wasn’t worth the money or hassle. At first, they tried to put my cousin and me in a tiny two-bed room that looked nothing like the photos. After I complained, they moved us to the suite I’d reserved. They also tried to charge the extra 21% non-resident tax because I was paying with a US credit card, even though I showed them my DNI and an Argentina address, and my cousin lives in Argentina too. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The location is the one good thing here. The air conditioning doesn’t work. At first I thought it might just be a one-off, but other comments say it’s been broken for months. They don’t tell you until you arrive. They do offer to cancel the reservation, but after an international flight, I can’t just start looking for another hotel.

The view from our room and the location were beautiful, but I wouldn’t come back just for that. We stayed only two nights, which was enough to see that the pictures don’t match reality. The rooms are very old and need renovation; the sheets were clean but old, and they supplied only a blanket, no comforter. As soon as I entered, the room smelled damp, so I had to sleep with the windows open under that blanket, even though it was cold outside. :(

The staff were courteous, but walking into a hotel in this condition made them seem less than honest. There was a musty smell everywhere, and the AC wasn’t working. It doesn’t look like it broke recently; it seems to have been out for a while. I’m extremely disappointed. The location is great, but keep your smartphones in your pockets as much as possible because someone may snatch one. If management doesn’t fix these issues, the hotel will go bankrupt.
