The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, which made the stay’s problems all the more disappointing. I really can’t recommend this hotel, and I’m glad we only had to spend one night there. The first room was dark and looked like it hadn’t been updated since the 1980s. It had a musty smell, dusty floor under the desk, mysterious gray marks in the shower, an already-opened tea bag, and a balcony with puddles but no furniture. The lobby looked okay, and a kind man opened the door and handled our luggage when we arrived. We tried the rooftop pool, but it was small, unheated, and surrounded by chairs that looked old and dirty. We didn’t stay long after spotting large diving beetles living in the water. We complained at reception, and the staff offered an upgrade, which we accepted. The diamond-category room seemed renovated compared with the first, but still felt dated and dark. At least it didn’t smell musty. Its hardwood floor was slippery and uneven, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work properly on the higher floors. In both rooms, we could hear everything in the hallway and neighboring rooms. Breakfast was disappointing too. The bread and pastries were stale, the potatoes were cold and inedible, and the only fruit or vegetables we saw were apples and orange slices. This fell far short of even a three-star experience, let alone a five-star one.

The rooms are spacious, and the staff were great when we asked to move, but the rooms are similar, so changing hotels would be better. The bathrooms are small, with cramped showers, often behind curtains, and a toilet positioned so close to the wall that sitting down was the worst I’ve experienced. Most areas, including the rooms, smell musty. Dark wood and poor lighting make the rooms gloomy, and there’s no English-language TV, not even BBC. Based on our travels and stays in five-star and good four-star hotels, this is definitely a three-star place, not four-star as the pictures might suggest. It needs investment.

The location worked well, close to the cruise port, restaurants, and parks, and the service was amazing. They even let us check out late. The rooms feel dated, though, and the TVs only have Spanish, which isn’t great for an international hotel. The mini split made gravel-like noises all night.

The location is very central, so we could explore the city on foot, and I’d stay here again. Our connecting rooms suited us perfectly: the kids had their own room, we had ours, and there was a separate living area, three bathrooms, and a big balcony. It felt like a roomy apartment with hotel service. Everything was very clean and nice, even if the decor looked a little old. The rooftop pool looked lovely, and you can see Uruguay in the distance, though it was too cold to use it in August 2025. There was no hot water during our stay, but the hotel emailed us a week ahead and offered free cancellation, a like-for-like booking at a nearby hotel, or a discount for the inconvenience. We chose the discount because connecting rooms seemed hard to find in Buenos Aires and we were only staying two days. Dinner at the hotel was average and breakfast really poor. I suspect that was partly because hardly anyone was staying there, probably due to the hot water issue.

The service was excellent, and breakfast was lovely. Great location too. Highly recommend!
