Hotel Alcazar

There was a stage set up outside our room, with shouting, power tools, and people throwing scaffolding around until 3 AM. The next night they took it down, again with the same noise and disruption until about 3 AM. I told the hotel in person and by email. Their only offer was to move us after the event was over.

The room was small but decent, and the price seemed very good for a major city center. I also liked the discount for paying cash. The location is the big draw, right in the heart of downtown Buenos Aires, with plenty of great parts of the city easy to reach on foot.

It's clean, affordable, and in a nice location, but probably one of the noisiest hotels I've stayed in. The maids and other staff can be really loud. As early as 6am, maids were rolling carts over the tiled floor outside the rooms. Some staff also talked loudly early in the morning, around 1am-5am, presumably giving the maids instructions about which rooms to clean.

There's not much here, no restaurant or bar, for example. Still, the quality is okay for the prices. The people and service are very friendly, and I'd definitely recommend it to someone traveling on a budget. I stayed here during my first couple of weeks in Buenos Aires.
