Le Cinque Lusso Recoleta

For what they charge for a supposed four-star stay, this was below hostel standards. There was hair everywhere, stained sheets, dirty curtains, and the toilet was so bad I’d rather not describe it. It’s the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. I don’t know how it keeps its four-star rating.

The location is the one good thing, close to the metro and everything else. The hotel itself is old, with cigarette and mold smells that never seemed to go away, and wardrobes that smell like they’re from the 1940s. The elevator was out of order most of the time, and the mattresses and sheets had holes. There’s no kitchen or way to heat food beyond toast, so don’t expect warm bread or melted cheese. If you have food allergies, stay far away. Staff were rude, and even getting toilet paper was a struggle. Nobody spoke English, Portuguese, or Chinese when we tried. I’d only stay if I were desperate to save money and expected no service at all.

The staff made our stay. They were incredibly kind and helped with everything we needed, even though our Spanish isn’t fluent. We planned to stay one night and ended up staying two. The breakfast was a really nice bonus, and the hotel is in a lovely location. I’d definitely recommend it.

The room was perfectly fine, and breakfast was included with food being replenished often. The staff were helpful with everything, and the location is great. Le Cinque hotel is well worth the price.
