Check-in and the online booking both went smoothly, and the location is prime. I suppose I expected more because of all the high reviews. The property is being restored and has some charm, but its age shows in plenty of ways. We stayed in the Silvina Ocampo room. The bathroom was just adequate, and the ceiling badly needed fresh paint. Getting the door open with its lock and key took about five minutes of fiddling. The large armoire made a shrill, out-of-tune violin sound every time it opened. The decor and bedding looked tired, as if they were original to the property. We met the owner, who was personable and professional. I was taken aback that they wouldn’t accept credit cards, though he did allow PayPal. The place was adequate and the price was right. If you’re looking for a bargain, you’ve found it.

This is our second year staying here, and we have absolutely nothing bad to say. It’s clean and very quiet, in a peaceful neighbourhood with everything from a pharmacy to supermarkets within two or three blocks. The owner was incredibly friendly when we met him. We checked out at 10 am and had an 11 pm flight, and they let us leave our luggage there until late. We’ll definitely come back whenever we’re in Buenos Aires.

The staff were incredibly attentive throughout our two-night stay, and the bathroom in the beautiful Tita Merello Room was fantastic, with a hot shower. Its window faces the street, so we sometimes shut it because of the noise. The only thing I’d change is the bed, which creaks a bit. Otherwise, everything was perfect. My sister and I highly recommend it!

They did everything exactly as agreed, and coordinating my grandparents’ stay was so easy. They came back delighted. Thanks so much for being so helpful. I highly recommend them!
