NH Collection Buenos Aires Jousten

The immediate neighborhood isn’t the nicest, but the central downtown location by Puerto Madero makes it very convenient for walking to major sights. Metro and bus stops are just outside. I booked through the Amex Hotel Collection, and they honored all the benefits, including early check-in, late checkout, and an “upgrade” to a corner room. The staff were incredibly friendly. The room was dark but functional, with a comfortable desk and decent Wi-Fi for work. The memory foam bed was soft and gave us a good night’s sleep, and the rainfall shower had plenty of hot water and pressure. They also left us a lovely complimentary fruit plate. The ground-floor gym is tiny, with only three cardio machines and some weights, but enough for a quick workout. The property feels more like a 3-star than a 4-star hotel. You have to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs to reach the small lobby, which has just two counters. Our biggest problem was the mobile concierge portal, which didn’t work for requests or room service. There was only one set of robes and slippers for two guests. I requested another through the portal and got no reply. Later, the water boiler broke, so I tried calling the front desk, but nobody answered. I went down and asked for a replacement, which they promptly brought up that night. They forgot the robe and slippers, though. After four separate requests while coming and going over a day and a half, we finally got another pair of slippers. The robe never arrived. Room service orders were ignored completely, so we had to rely on the minibar. We used part of our Amex property credit for the breakfast buffet, but it was very basic, with the usual eggs, sausages, toast, cereal, and pastries. At 32,000 ARS, it’s absolutely not worth the asking price. Local eateries are a much better option. Overall, the stay was pretty good and there were no total dealbreakers. The polite staff and excellent Amex perks helped, but be ready to chase down basic amenities if they matter to you.

We had a wonderful four nights at NH Collection Jousten. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. It’s centrally located, and we especially appreciated the staff. A big thank you to Thomas and the rest of the front desk team for looking after us!

The location worked well, right between San Telmo and La Boca to the south and Palermo and Recoleta to the north. But the rest of the stay felt below what I'd expect from a four-star hotel. Staff at check-in and breakfast seemed cold and uninterested, and the breakfast itself was just okay. The coffee was awful, and on our second morning it was actually cold. Our room was decent until we woke to a huge puddle from the leaking AC. They repaired it the next day, but paint kept falling until they painted over the area the day after that. The shower dispensers also seemed to have been topped up with water instead of shampoo and soap. We booked for the Amex Hotel Collection perks and wouldn't recommend doing that. It wasn't the worst stay imaginable, but it was a letdown.
