Savoy Hotel

The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet, which were the main things for me. The room was small, and I had to use a QR code to find out they even charge for a bottle of water. TV channel access was difficult too. I booked through a travel agent, so I don’t know what room class I had or what amenities were included. The hot breakfast didn’t seem designed for the tourist guests the hotel caters to. Luggage storage and the lifts were good, and the public areas were impressive. The location felt safe and was handy for the 'theatre district' road, a Dia supermarket, and affordable restaurants.

The room was clean, and my request for a quiet one was actually honored. This is an OK hotel in an OK location if you specifically want to stay in this area. Palermo is about 30-40 minutes away by bus, and that’s where most of the tourist traps are anyway. You’ll need a power adapter for your chargers. One elevator suddenly dropped about 30 cm. The doors opened, and at first we thought we were stuck, but then it carried on normally. It was closed for a few days afterward. Housekeeping was noisy too: around 4-5 AM, cleaning carts were already rumbling through the hallways, and the hard floors made everything audible. By around 9 AM, staff were knocking on doors to ask if they could clean the rooms.

The showers are crazy good, and the beds are comfortable. Food and drink prices are reasonable too. But this is a tired, central hotel that seems to trade on its name. It needs refurbishing. The gym is poor, with no rowing machine or sanitising wipes, although there are toilets and showers attached. The period features are fantastic, but they badly need refurbishment, which would really lift the building.

The location was very convenient, within walking distance of a few tourist attractions, five minutes from Hop on hop off bus stop #5, and close to lots of great restaurants. Front desk staff were especially helpful with our questions and restaurant suggestions. The included buffet breakfast had a fair selection and saved us time in the mornings. We chose the hotel for its traditional "old fashion" style because we wanted that experience in Buenos Aires. Its "grand" days seem to be over, though. The lobby bar looks impressive, but the hallways need an upgrade. We stayed four nights in the Classic room w/t 2 twin beds. It was a little small but comfortable, with a big bathroom and a great shower.
