Aparthotel Trianon Recoleta

At 1:30 a.m. on 14 Jan 2026, we had a serious safety incident in room 7C. There were three women in our group, including a teenage girl. My sister woke to a loud bang and a door slamming. The staff/back door to our room had been opened, and a light chair we'd placed there as a noise indicator had clearly been moved. That alerted us to the security breach and may have stopped someone from coming further in without us noticing. We called reception straight away. Across three calls, the receptionist, “Sebastian,” gave three different explanations, eventually saying “a guest” had been given a key to 7C because they asked for it. But the entry was through the staff/back door, and the hotel wouldn't explain how a genuine guest could reach that door from the foyer at 1:30 a.m. An actual guest could use the main lift to get to the room's front door. Without a clear explanation, we were left afraid that staff had used the access for inappropriate reasons in the middle of the night. The receptionist got angry and aggressive with us about the chair instead of focusing on our safety, and told us off for putting it there (photo attached). We fled the hotel that night. They never contacted us afterward to check if we were safe. It was hard to reach them the next day, and when we finally did, management was rude and dismissive. They said the person they'd let into our room was “a good person.” They couldn't possibly know that, and it completely misses the point. Buenos Aires is a big city and can sometimes be dangerous. There was no way to deadbolt or latch the doors in our room, so we were entirely at the mercy of staff and anyone they chose to let in. I wouldn't recommend this hotel, especially to women or anyone traveling with teenage girls.

The breakfast was average, and the Wi-Fi was terrible. It's a nice place, though a bit dated. Cleaning staff came in after just a two-second knock. They also entered one day after I'd said not to go into the room because my daughter was sick.

This is an apartment-style hotel with AC in the units and nice balconies. The staff were friendly and put up with my horrible Spanish, and breakfast was good every morning. It's in a beautiful part of town. The subway isn't very convenient, but walking or taking a reasonably priced cab makes sense anyway.

The hotel is very old and out of date. Our air conditioners leaked badly and the couch was broken, then many of our personal items were missing when we left. When we asked the hotel about them, we were told the items had somehow turned up “downstairs.” We lived on the 4th floor, and there's no logical reason for that except that employees had claimed our belongings as their own, expecting us not to notice. When we went to retrieve them, half the missing items were still gone, and the ones they returned were in poor condition. These are the worst kind of people the world has to offer, sadly. Do NOT waste your money here. I'd suggest staying somewhere more modern!
