Hotel Uthgra de las Luces

The location was fantastic, and the staff were really friendly. The hotel was simple and affordable, with good A/C. Breakfast was basic but tasty. The elevator broke and stayed that way for two days.

The location is excellent, close to metro stations and the Casa Rosada. Front desk staff were great, with useful neighborhood tips, and they were very helpful when we needed to store our luggage. Breakfast had nice options, but the breakfast staff seemed uninterested. I kept having to ask them to refill things, and some items were only replenished halfway. My room's window didn't have much of a view. The A/C and heater were mounted high up and had to be switched on by hand, so I needed a chair to reach the controls.

It's on a peaceful street, and Florida street with its money changers is right nearby. A lovely hotel, with breakfast included.

I love Buenos Aires and plan to come back, but Hotel de Las Luces at 525, Calle Adolfo Alsina was the second worst hotel I've stayed at. The website didn't make the problems clear, and I was very upset by the experience. I won't choose UTHGRA hotels again. The staff seemed indifferent to helping guests, and I didn't even get a simple “thank you” when I left. I saw other unhappy guests from Argentina and elsewhere, and the staff even came into my room when I had a “don't disturb” sign on the door. The female staff were rough and unsympathetic, and couldn't help with luggage. My room had dirty, scratched walls. The towels were torn, holed, and smelled of smoke, and the air conditioning didn't work properly. At breakfast, staff banged plates and cups around loudly while clearing them. Many dishes were chipped with sharp edges, which could be unsafe for children. The Wi-Fi was weak and unreliable, and the hotel computers had dirty, damaged keyboards and outdated Windows XP, which wouldn't let me upload high-resolution pictures. Even the instruction not to put more than three people in the elevator wasn't followed.
