Voyage Recoleta Hostel

The nearby construction made it a little hard to sleep, which was a shame. The place is cozy, the staff are really nice, and the service was excellent.

The location and price are good, and there's a nice living room, a rooftop, and two guitars. Room options go from an 8-person dorm to a 4-person dorm, for $10-14 a night. The volunteers help make the place better, but the owner is grumpy and seems like she hasn't smiled in ages. The bad vibes are hard to ignore. The place is run down, and the floor is almost always wet. Showers, internet, and AC were out for long stretches. The kitchen and rooftop shut at 11 pm, for apparently no reason.

I showed up without a reservation and stayed one night. The receptionist was very nice, and for the price, it's the best value I've seen in Buenos Aires. The place is a little old and quiet, but it has what you need. I would've stayed longer if I could.

This was the dirtiest hostel I've stayed in. There were cockroaches everywhere, and they made us leave our room so they could fumigate. When we arrived, someone else's things were on our bed. Staff just removed them, with no apology. Nothing felt clean, and most of the staff were quite rude, apart from one guy who I think was a volunteer. The kitchen was only usable first thing in the morning, and five toilets and showers weren't enough for everyone staying there. Avoid it.
