Piattelli Wine Resort

The rooms are spacious and thoughtfully designed, the staff are very friendly, and the food is genuinely good. We especially enjoyed the wine and chocolate tasting, an original and delicious pairing. Since it was our anniversary, they gave us a bottle of champagne, which was very kind. The spa was a different story. We’d booked the water circuit and sauna, but nobody was there to welcome us, bring towels or shoes, or explain how to use anything. The circuit is just a very small pool, and we couldn’t work out the hydromassage without help. Other guests were also using the pool, even though it was meant to be reserved for us. With the space so tiny, it didn’t feel relaxing or romantic. The main hall could use warmer, cozier decor. For what you get, I felt it was too expensive.

We stumbled across Piattelli Winery in 2014 and were struck by its beauty and charm. Our recent stay at the Piattelli Wine Resort was even better than we expected. The surroundings are breathtaking, the facilities are impeccable, and the whole place feels set up for a memorable visit. The people there were warm and attentive from the start, and made us feel at home. Juan deserves a mention for his engaging, knowledgeable explanations of winemaking during the wine and chocolate tasting. Valentina was also a gem, her kindness and care added something special to our stay. The wines and the overall experience both show real excellence. We’d happily recommend Piattelli to anyone after great wine, relaxation, and outstanding service.

The drive from the nearest airport is long, but the Piattelli Wine Resort makes a lovely oasis among the Cafayate vineyards. The food and service were very good, and the staff were friendly. It also makes a great base for visiting the area's other wineries.

The rooms are spacious, with rooftops that have lovely views and are great for unwinding at night. Breakfast was a standout, from the French-style croissants, nearly as good as in France, to the brioche, juices, yoghurts, and à la carte choices. Lunch and dinner were excellent too, with fresh vegetables and high-quality meats. The modern spa had great service and affordable prices. The facilities are only two years old and felt well maintained. We felt looked after from the gate all the way to our room, and were welcomed with a lovely bottle of wine. The complimentary wine and chocolate tasting was a nice introduction to the estate. Piatelli is a peaceful place to relax and enjoy good food and wine, though a few things could be better. The winery setting means wildlife is around. We came across spiders, scorpions, and frogs every day in or near our room, which could put some people off. There wasn’t any complimentary water in the room, a surprising omission for a hotel of this standing. The owners are an American couple, but only a few staff spoke English, which could be hard for guests who don’t speak Spanish. There was no waiting area at the restaurant, and while we were patiently waiting for a table, some rude guests cut in front of us. The chocolate cake nemesis dessert was disappointing. The gym needs more equipment and weights, and the balls should be properly inflated. The takeaway breakfast also fell short of the buffet: we weren’t offered fresh juice, and when we asked for water they initially tried to charge us. That felt unprofessional.
