Cabaña Tronco y Piedra Caviahue

That lake view from the upstairs bedroom is breathtaking, and the cabin is only about two blocks from the lake. Getting there is easy, even with a lot of snow in town, since it's just one block off the paved road and near the entrance to Caviahue from Loncopue. There's room for around 10 people with the beds, bedrooms, and sofa beds. It's a two-story place, with three upstairs bedrooms, an en-suite bathroom upstairs, and two more bathrooms, one on each floor. Inside, all the wood gives it a great rustic feel. It has all the comforts, including an indoor grill that's a real plus in winter, and the value is excellent. A highly recommended spot for a few lovely days in Caviahue!

The cabin is roomy and has a lovely view of the lake. There's a spacious dining room, a bathroom in the hallway, and a cold room at the entrance that's handy for boots and other winter gear. All three large bedrooms have nice views, and one has an ensuite bathroom. The area under that bathroom's mirror should be covered, since it's visible from outside. The fireplace is beautiful, though the grill and barbecue equipment could be better. Some knives, dishes, and other items are worn. The leaks between the walls have been fixed by sealing them. Those are minor details overall.

There's a fantastic view, and the cabin is spacious and inexpensive, so it's good value if you don't expect too much. Still, it needs maintenance. Cold air and wind come through the logs, and the balconies look neglected. The back bedroom's balcony is falling apart, while the front one is too small to walk on without worrying it might collapse like the other. The master bedroom has been split into two with drywall that stops short of the ceiling, so there's no privacy. The en-suite bathroom is enclosed the same way, and odors pass between both rooms. The armchairs have broken legs and are propped up with bricks. It's a very nice place, but those issues are hard to overlook.

The log cabin feels warm and inviting, and the facilities are roomy and comfortable. It's peaceful inside and around the property, with an unparalleled view of the lake.
