M.A.C. Royal Suites Hotel & Casino Chilecito

The room was perfect, not a flaw in it. The bathroom design and lighting were lovely, the dressing room had its own lights, and the amenities were extensive. They even replaced the bathrobe after turndown and left a chocolate in the afternoon or evening. I couldn’t get the jacuzzi working properly, though, and I’d suggest leaving a complimentary bottle of water. Just a small thing. The elevator needs the room key card, which felt like a good security measure, while the hallway air freshener was a little overpowering. The team was impeccably trained and attentive without hovering, and the cleaning was spotless in both the room and shared spaces. The native plant gardens and outdoor areas were beautifully maintained. The hotel itself is modern and thoughtfully decorated, with everything arranged in a harmonious way. Covered parking connects directly to the elevator, and the double entrance doors keep out dust, wind, and heat. It’s close to the main square and city center, though I didn’t see any kiosks nearby. I enjoyed the indoor pool, with warm water, mountain views, a welcoming feel, and nice music. It could use some maintenance. I imagine the water may not circulate well because it isn’t used often. Breakfast was good, and the coffee was excellent. With low occupancy, a buffet wouldn’t make sense, but there was a menu with juice, yogurt, fresh sliced fruit presented nicely, coffee, pastries, eggs, cheese, ham, and other things I can’t remember. The woman serving it was very friendly, though I didn’t ask her name. The bar service was very good too. Ariana was warm, friendly, and attentive, the drinks were well made, and prices were reasonable. Coffee always came with a delicious pastry cube. I didn’t eat in the hotel. It seemed unnecessary to have the whole dining room set up with no diners, and only four breakfast tables were assigned, all in direct sunlight. That’s part of the hotel’s management, which surprises me in several ways. I wish they offered promotions like Nacion+ elsewhere in the country, or worked with travel agencies, but they don’t seem interested in marketing. The price feels a little high for the surroundings, though I think it may be the only option in this category, or at least the only one I found. Some local meals or snacks would be nice, but with so few guests, I suppose it may be hard to keep that going. The staff really are impeccable.

The staff were no help, and we were given separate beds. We waited an hour and 24 minutes for appetizers, then one badly thrown-together dish finally arrived. Honestly, an 8-year-old could have done better. The rest never came; after all that waiting, they said they didn’t know how to make them. Dinner still hasn’t arrived. Someone had warned me not to expect much from this hotel, and they were right. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Rooms, restaurant, and service were all excellent. Nothing to complain about. Definitely recommended.

For this region, it’s a modern, luxurious hotel, and people consider it a very good international four-star. The rooms are spacious and up to date, though sound carries too easily. Food at the restaurant is nicely prepared but bland, and service takes an extremely long time. It seems like only 10 people are running the hotel, so they should at least double the staff. The hotel also feels like an afterthought next to its brand-new casino.
