The fridge is a dump, with no space and every shelf broken, so storing food is almost impossible. For some reason the whole property smells like dog shit, though you get used to it pretty quickly.

The volunteers seemed more focused on their own routines than on the guests, and it was hard to get proper rest there.

I ended up staying four nights instead of the two I’d planned because I liked it so much. The people were warm and welcoming, and they made the whole stay great. They also kept my motorbike safely inside and helped me with my Spanish, which I needed. A fantastic time.

I liked having a communal kitchen, though the fridge was dirty and needs a clean. The breakfast was extremely basic, and the hostel didn’t feel especially sociable or inclusive. It seemed geared more toward younger travelers. The neighborhood felt fine for walking to attractions during the day, but taxi drivers warned me against walking alone there in the evening, and it seemed sketchy at night. This is a new hostel in a spacious former family home. The owner and staff were friendly, but still seemed to be figuring things out. My private en-suite room was comfortable, as advertised on Hostelroom. However, they didn’t seem to know what “en-suite” meant, and other guests used the private bathroom until I finally got a key to lock it after two days. I lost sleep when an unannounced party got loud from midnight until 2 am. The hostel has potential, but there’s room to improve. For payment, I’d book directly and use pesos, or use Booking. Hostelworld charged $31.52 to my card, and I also paid more in pesos than Booking had quoted.

I arrived with a private-room reservation only to be told the hostel was full. They looked into other places, but every option was either much more expensive or the same price for a shared room. In the end, they left us out on the street with nowhere to sleep. Horrible.
