Xelena Hotel & Suites

The food was the least memorable part: breakfast and bar choices were basic, edible, but nothing special. The pool was nice, with a great view, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We stayed in the junior, luxury, and presidential suites, and every room was very clean with comfortable beds. The luxury and presidential suites were especially spacious and looked out over the lake. A shuttle to the town center runs hourly from 3 pm to 10 pm.

The main drawback for us was how far the hotel is from downtown, where the good shops and restaurants are. There is a shuttle, but it only runs from 3pm to 10pm. The hotel itself is right on the lake shore, with great views, spacious rooms, and most of what you might need. We also enjoyed the very nice pool, hot tub, and sauna. Dinner and breakfast were very good. One thing we didn’t like was the short glass partition on the shower.

We only stayed one night before doing the glacier mini trekking, and the hotel was great. We went with Hielo y Aventura, and the location meant we were the last pickup before the glacier and first drop-off afterward, so we spent less time on the bus. The lunch box made sorting food for the trek easy and was a great lunch, though $15-20 felt a bit expensive. The staff were great, and our clean, lovely room had big windows facing Lago. If you want to spend a lot of time in town, somewhere more central might suit you better. Taxis were about $4 each way, and there’s also a hotel shuttle.

We moved here after spending several nights in town. The property is away from town, but it provides a shuttle. From our room and the pool area, the lake view was wonderful, and there’s a hot tub and dry sauna. The staff were professional, helpful, and excellent. There was a festival in town, with live music every night until midnight. We had trouble after an airline cancellation kept rolling over, and the big booking sites took our money despite advertising free cancellation. Don’t book through Expedia or hotels.com. Book directly with the property on WhatsApp.
