Hostería Senderos

The room was spacious, but had no blinds or even a curtain, so the sun woke us very early. It was quite expensive for a 3-stars hotel, and I’ve paid the same in other El Chalten places with better amenities. The location was good, though El Chalten is small and easy to walk around. Service wasn’t the best, particularly at reception, where people were not very accommodating and sometimes rude. We’d booked their New Year’s eve dinner for 120 USD/pp, but the food didn’t justify the price. The wine was medium to bad quality, the meat wasn’t good either, and the dessert had m&ms. That might have been fine if dinner had been cheaper.

The room and bathroom were a good size, and everything was well maintained. It’s a charming boutique hotel with a European feel, with a comfortable bed and a nice dinner restaurant. They recommend reserving at the front desk the night before or that morning. The included breakfast buffet had a nice selection, and you can order eggs too. We could hear our neighbors talking and snoring through the thin walls, which only bothered us when we were trying to sleep. It’s at the far southern end of town, so shops, restaurants, and trailheads mean longer walks. Those issues were minor for us, and we still give it five stars.

The hotel is just across from the bus terminal and near the start of some trails. Our room was very warm. There’s no A/C, and the windows are very small.

We spent five nights here and had a great experience. The room with a view of Fitz was lovely on sunny mornings. Staff were warm and helpful, and knew a lot about hikes, restaurants, and tours. It’s conveniently close to the bus station, handy when arriving by bus with luggage. Breakfast was good, though we would’ve liked more options and variety over a longer stay.
