Hotel Compostela

Right in the heart of the city, it's a VERY good option. The room was nice and the breakfast substantial. It cost ARS $170 a night (by 03/2011). I recommend it!

What a beautiful place!

The reception staff and breakfast were good, though nothing special. We didn't complain because it was Sunday and we were leaving the next day. We only stayed one night, and the filth was the worst part: hair and dust all over the carpet, an open package of cookies under one bed, and suspicious mounds and black stains in the bathroom. The double room was small, with worn, flimsy single beds, shelves used as nightstands, a ceiling fan, a 14-inch CRT TV, and a wardrobe, all looking like they were from the 70s/80s.

The one thing going for it was being close to everything. The reception staff were attentive, except for one man who insisted on having us share one remote between both rooms, even though there were four of us. Breakfast was very, very basic, and I didn't pay much for it. Still, I'm a working person and don't expect luxury or anything out of this world, just a decent mattress, pillows, sheets, and a current TV. Instead there was zero investment: horrible mattresses, a 14-inch TV from the 80s, old carpets, torn bedding, worn sheets, and pillows just 3 cm high. We'd stayed here many times, but it had been almost two years since our last visit. This time was a total disgrace. Never again.
