Hotel Monet

The service was the best part of our weeklong stay. Everyone was so friendly, and the value for money was outstanding. Our air conditioning worked perfectly and the shower had amazing water pressure. I used the dining area to work and enjoyed some mate in the small garden. Mar del Plata has plenty of places to choose from, and even though this one is a few blocks from the beach, I think it’s worth it.

I’m giving two stars because the reception and staff were attentive, especially Lucrecia and Abril. Otherwise, this hotel would be a DISASTER. We had to switch rooms twice because the tiny rooms had a bad layout and nowhere to put our things. The half-used shampoos, damp walls, and sagging mattresses didn’t help. There were extractor fans both inside and outside the bathroom, which felt unnecessary. The shower was on one side, with the toilet and bidet on the other, and the whole room got wet whenever I showered. Room 01 was impossible for sleeping because it was next to the breakfast room, where we could hear and see everything. We wanted proper rest, so they eventually moved us to room 205, which was a bit more comfortable, though the acoustics still weren’t good. The decor and layout need a lot of work. Several services were unavailable, including the elevator and room service, and there was no microwave to heat food. I was surprised it was so popular, maybe it’s just marketing.

What we saw in the Instagram reels gave us the wrong idea about the hotel’s condition. It was poorly maintained and not clean, with a dirty smell throughout, and the service was just as bad. The toilets clogged, they didn’t replenish the toilet paper, and what they left for us was dirty and used. The shower was moldy, the towels were stained and hadn’t been washed properly, and we found a flea and a cockroach in the rooms. With three of us in each room there was hardly any space to walk. The mattresses sagged, and the pillows had no pillowcases. Breakfast was low quality and had little variety. We won’t come back.

For the price, it’s not bad, and the location is good. The service was friendly, which we appreciated. The mattress wasn’t comfortable, and the sheets came loose as soon as you lay down. We could hear noise between rooms, breakfast was pretty basic, and the cleaning was okay but needed more thorough sweeping. A few adjustments would make the stay much better.
