Ohana Hostel

The service really was excellent, thanks to a very attentive gentleman, and the location in Mogotes is hard to beat. Breakfast was very good too. The place itself is nice, but the building is neglected and badly needs repairs. It's clearly been renovated, though there's still plenty to improve. I rented it for six, and yes, all six of us slept there, but the room is so small that staying in it for hours with that many people is impossible. Four might be more comfortable. The old-style shower columns barely work, and the pool is just okay and needs a lot of cosmetic work. There's a two-burner electric cooktop and an electric oven if you want to cook. Considering the price and quality, it was adequate.

We paid a deposit for one room, then arrived to find they'd put us in a completely different one. They said a pipe had burst in the room we booked, but nobody had warned me. The place wasn't even close to downtown like they'd said, and there was no sea view or beach access as claimed. The owner offered to return my deposit, and I agreed, but then her husband showed up acting arrogant and said he wouldn't give anything back, along with making inappropriate comments. They both got somewhat violent and started messing with me. In the end, the woman threatened to call the police, haha. Honestly, it was a circus. The place was horrible, dirty, and neglected, and the treatment was awful, with zero empathy. If you can spend a little more, rent somewhere else. This place was a disaster. Don't go!

I'm wondering if this is a hotel or if they rent apartments for stays. I think they're trying to scam me.

Waking up to that ocean view and sunrise was priceless. My family and I had some wonderful days here, especially enjoying the heated pool, lawn, and veranda. The place is always clean and smells lovely, and the owners were attentive and available whenever we needed them. There are a few things they could improve, but we're happy with what we got to enjoy.
