Surf Camp MDP

The value for money was terrible. It's tiny, just a couple of rooms in a backyard, and the hostel isn't suitable for a decent stay. The rooms are cramped, have no air conditioning or fan, and the beds are uncomfortable. There were no towels, the sheets were very old, the kitchen had nothing in it, and the bathroom was in really poor shape. I can't comment on the classes since we didn't take any. The owner was incredibly unhelpful: he wouldn't rent us a surfboard, charged us to rent a leash, which is far from the surfer vibe the hostel tries to project, and wanted half the stay's price just to hold our bags until 3 pm. They don't take credit cards either. I wouldn't go back.

The room was so small and dusty for three people, and even getting inside to sleep felt lucky. The bunks shook whenever anyone moved, like they could give way, and the floorboards rattled whenever somebody passed by. The mattresses were filthy, old, and thinner than shoe soles. They put us in makeshift rooms in a backyard behind the owner's house. There are no blackout curtains, so daylight wakes you around 7 am. If that doesn't, the owner starts talking outside your "room" once you're awake. The bathroom sink has no hot water either. Honestly, don't stay here. It's awful, and you can find somewhere decent for the same money.

The welcome here is so warm, and the staff are incredibly friendly. Everyone clearly loves surfing and is quick to spot where you can improve. I highly recommend it. Everything was excellent.

There's a professional photographer out on the water, so the more adventurous surfers can get action shots. They'll also take you to a great spot for the best waves. If you want to learn to surf or just be around surfing, this is the place.
