Apart Hotel Andino

Pretty awful. The curtains didn't cover the whole window, and there was a disgusting bleach smell. At 35,000 pesos a night, having breakfast five blocks away is shameful. It did save us in the end, though, since Hotel Pacifico canceled our reservation on the very day we arrived.

We only needed a place to sleep in the city center while passing through, and this worked well for the price. The location is good, and the staff were very friendly. They let us check in early without any trouble. Just don't expect luxury; you get what you pay for.

There was a gas leak, and the room photos didn't match what we found. The place was dirty, with cobwebs, and the bathroom was dirty too. The cold tap in the sink didn't work. There was no parking available when we arrived, though that night they offered us a space 10 blocks away.

The city center location was the only good part of this hotel. Our four night booking cost more than a suite in Montevideo's most expensive neighborhood, but the room was dirty and musty, with peeling ceiling paint, exposed electrical wires, and very little light. The drywall walls let us hear everything. We couldn't sleep during any of the four nights. Staff washed floors in the early morning, ran machinery, or talked on their phones in the halls. Some nights there was constant traffic, loud talking and laughter, suitcases being dragged, loud music, and kids running and shouting. Breakfast meant walking about three blocks to another hotel, where they skimped and gave us only coffee and a croissant, despite what we had paid. They don't take debit or credit cards. The price shown in search engines isn't the real one, and the photos aren't accurate either.
