De Los Artistas Hostel Mendoza

I spent two weeks at Hostel de los artistas and found so many great people there. It suits anyone who enjoys community and fellowship. The owners are warm, and the volunteers help make the place feel like home. There were about seven volunteers throughout my stay, but only a few other guests, so the hostel felt spacious and wasn’t crowded. It’s in a good part of town where things are inexpensive. A taxi from the airport cost $8, and from the bus station it was $2. My one suggestion is about the lockers: they aren’t the usual kind you see in other hostels, and there didn’t seem to be enough for everyone to have one.

We had a really good two-night stay. There’s lots of space, including a big living room, kitchen, and a lovely garden with hammocks and chairs to relax in. Breakfast is simple but nice, with bread and cornflakes. They also have two very cute dogs.

I was here for almost a week in January 2019 and had a great time. The hostel’s people were welcoming, making asado and inviting all the guests to join them. Highly recommend it if you find yourself in Mendoza!

The brothers who run the hostel were friendly and helpful. There weren’t many people there, so I was moved to a six-bed dorm. It was clean throughout, with a comfortable bed, plus a lamp and outlet by the bed, which was a nice touch. The attached bathroom was very large. Wifi was good in the common areas and in the six-bed dorm, though the signal was weak there. In the eight-bed dorm, I couldn’t find a signal. It’s not right in the center, which may bother some people, but it’s an easy 10-minute walk along well-lit streets. Breakfast was bread and cereal, like at most Argentinian hostels. I bought eggs and made scrambled eggs one morning.
