Estacion Mendoza Hostel

Stay away! The place was clean, but little else was okay. I arrived at 7h30 after an 18h bus ride. The dorm was half empty and my bed was ready, but they wouldn’t let me use it unless I paid for a full night. There wasn’t anywhere comfortable to relax. Most of the staff were the least kind and friendly I’d encountered in two months in Argentina. One guy who usually worked nights was friendly; the rest didn’t smile, were on their phones, and were simply unkind. One employee spoke to me only to ask for cigarettes. There was no service to speak of. During my week there, we had no water for two days, so no shower at night, and one night there was only cold water. Food and alcohol were stolen from my bag, which had my name on it. There was no social atmosphere, dinner, or anything organized to help people meet. The pool was tiny and dirty. Breakfast was basic: toast with butter and jam, grapes if you got there early because they wouldn’t put out more once they ran out, and horrible chemical “orange juice.” After c/o, they wouldn’t let me use the upstairs bathroom, apparently to make sure I couldn’t shower. I found that “funny” after having to shower somewhere else for two days. I’ve backpacked through Asia, Europe, and South America, and this is only my third negative comment in all those years. You can find somewhere better in Mendoza. I was just too lazy to change hostels since I was hardly there except to sleep.

A nice pool, even if it is small, and the fridges were always stocked with good beer and wine. The staff were friendly, the facilities were good and clean, and the other guests were relaxed and happy to chat. A great place to spend a few days.

I love this hostel and would highly recommend it to international travelers and tourists. The staff are amazing, dedicated, and consistently great. You’ll meet wonderful people and have a terrific time. If you need a reason to fall in love with Mendoza, stay at this hostel!
