Hotel de Cielo

The setting is breathtaking, and the mirror cabins are such a beautiful, unusual place to stay. We had a memorable dinner at a long shared table with travelers from around the world. Chef Pablo cooked the fantastic meal right in front of us. You can also join lunch, and amenities include WiFi and free breakfast. Getting there took some effort, and phone reception can be patchy, so downloading Google Maps ahead of time is a good idea. We missed our flight and needed to change our arrival date, and the team went out of their way to help us. I only wish we'd had more time to explore.

The staff are what made this stay so special. They welcomed us so warmly, and we'll never forget them. The pod was huge and beautiful, with two bedrooms, a fireplace, and an incredible view from bed in the morning. We could spot birds, rabbits, and guinea pigs outside, and the stars are something else. The rooms get pretty bright, so bring a sleep mask. There are little crickets and beetles around in the wilderness, so slippers are handy too. And the food! Our best meals of the whole trip were at Hotel De Cielo. Dinner is a set menu at 8:30 pm, served at one long table with the chef cooking nearby. It feels like having a private chef, and the menus are very reasonably priced. If you're picky or have allergies, let them know in advance. It's really remote, so bring snacks before you arrive. The rooms have kitchens with a fridge, but you won't be able to pop out and buy anything. The road in is rocky. We managed without an SUV, though a larger car would have been better. You'll need to rent a car anywhere in Uco Valley. There are horses all over the area, and it's nice for a long walk, so bring sneakers or hiking boots. I was torn between staying here and Chacras. We visited Chacras, and I'm so glad we chose Hotel de Cielo instead. The beauty doesn't come close. The pod was one of the most magnificent rooms I've ever stayed in. This place will stay with me forever. I feel so lucky we got to be here.

The views of the Andes are breathtaking, since the hotel sits at their foothills. The staff were great, especially Roberto, the general manager, and Alejandro, who made the best asados. Fabulous place, highly recommend it.

The food is amazing, and the staff are just as lovely. From the bathtub you get a front-row view of the majestic Andes, and the whole place feels like a piece of heaven. The last 10 km of the drive are quite rough, so a compact or SUV type car is recommended. You can also drive up to your loft, which may mean going up a hill on a dirt road.
