Palace Hotel Mendoza

Beautiful.

Water was already dripping from an electrical outlet onto the little orange table, so we had to throw out food that got wet. A room with an air conditioner soaked by the leaks was no place to stay, despite being told we could turn it on. After we came back from an excursion, we opened the door to room 77 and found the hallway flooded, along with our purchases. They knew the room leaked after a storm in Mendoza the previous week, but the water damage still caught us by surprise. The stairs had a sheet or curtain over them, which made them dangerous and easy to fall on if you weren’t careful. At 11 PM, they moved us to another hotel, even though we were leaving in the morning. They said I was insisting on staying, which I never did. We were traveling with other family members, so we had to split up and leave our bags with them. Otherwise, they would have made us haul our heavy bags back and forth before our return to Buenos Aires the next morning. They offered no proper solution, and at the other hotel the air conditioner was broken too. The fan felt like it might fall on you. A complete disaster, even with the central location.

The central location was the only good thing. During our two-night stay, the elevator worked the first night, then stopped the next day, so we had to use the stairs. They were wet from leaks, and we used a sheet to soak up the water. There were leaks everywhere, a musty smell, and my mother-in-law’s room was completely soaked. With the ceiling still dripping, they moved her to another hotel at 11 pm. I’ve attached photos and videos. The rest of the place doesn’t deserve even one star. Better to pay a little more than risk a stay like this. I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

For the price, the room was good value, and the concierge staff were fantastic. The problem was room 55: it smelled of cigarettes, and the pillows did too. It was unpleasant as a non-smoker, but luckily we always bring our own pillows.
